AAAYA SoCal – APIAs + Politics: The Final Frontier?

While Randall Park may have a shot at the White House on HBO’s “Veep,” HBO may have a more progressive view on Asian American political representation than is actually the case. Asian Americans have been quick to enter and ascend the ranks of business, law, and medicine, but have been seemingly slower to rise in elected office. Is the political arena the “Final Frontier” for APIAs (Asian and Pacific Islander Americans)? What’s keeping APIAs from seeking out the White House, and political office in general? Numbers? Birthers? Tiger Moms?

*We had a distinguished panel for an exploration of this topic and turned out to be a lively evening of conversation and debate.
