NYC – Yale Day of Service Recap – Yung Wing School – May 12, 2012
P.S. 124, The Yung Wing School in Chinatown was the center of our efforts for the Yale Day of Service on May 12, 2012. We planted flowers, cleared the garden, updated the computers and tided up the library. Our efforts were rewarded with a tour of Chinatown by Rocky Chin MCP ‘71 and dim sum at Wing Shoon. On January 21, the Northern California chapter helped bring Marvin Chun, Yale Professor of Cognitive Psychology and Yale’s first Asian American Residential College Master, to lecture for the Yale and Commonwealth Clubs of Silicon Valley. Nov 20 Banquet – Thanks for Joining Us, and Congratulations to Jack Hasegawa!
It was a busy day for AAAYA: the national board had its second annual meeting to discuss plans for fundraising, board structure, and building new local chapters (if you’re interested in serving on the board, contact us and let us know!). After the meeting, students and alumni met at the Asian American Cultural Center for a reception, followed by a banquet at Seoul Garden restaurant.
