The AAAYA NorCal Spring Dinner will be at Oriental Pearl Restaurant in San Francisco Chinatown, a few hours after the conclusion of the Yale Redpath Seminar, separately held at the Westin St. Francis Hotel. The evening promises to be a stimulating and enjoyable opportunity to mingle and chat with these distinguished Asia experts, who will be the featured speakers on “The Future of Asia,” this year’s Redpath Seminar.

* Nayan Chanda is Director of Publications & Editor of YaleGlobal Online Magazine at the Yale Center for the Study of Globalization, author of numerous books on Asia politics and a former editor of the Far Eastern Economic Review and the Asian Wall Street Journal Weekly. He continues to write a fortnightly column “Bound Together” in India's BusinessWorld magazine and Singapore Straits Times.
* Marian Chertow is an Associate Professor of Industrial Environmental Management and has been Director of the Industrial Environmental Management Program at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies since 1991. Prior to Yale, she spent ten years in environmental business and state and local government, including service as President of the Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority.
* Amy Chua is John M. Duff Professor of Law at Yale University, a NY Times best selling author and a former attorney at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton focused on international transactions throughout Asia, Europe, and Latin America, including the privatization of Telefonos de Mexico.

This is a great time to join and participate in AAAYA. The Northern California chapter of AAAYA recently held its organizational meeting in February. 35 Yale alumni spanning four decades met and volunteered to launch AAAYA NorCal. There are many opportunities to participate, including the planning of dinners with interesting speakers such as this. Among the rewarding activities later this year is a community service day on Angel Island. We still need volunteers to help out with planning summer, fall and holiday events plus other activities inspired by our vision. So, make your mark on the direction of AAAYA NorCal. Get involved!

VISION
The Association of Asian American Yale Alumni (AAAYA) is a volunteer-run, membership based organization that provides a vehicle for Yale University alumni to promote the civic participation, leadership and service of Asian Americans and Asians at Yale and in the broader society.
It pursues its mission by developing programs on campus and in communities in need through the following types of activities:
Support diversity and equal opportunity at Yale University
Strengthen student-alumni programs such as student externships and Life-after-Yale
Strengthen the leadership role and contributions of Asian American students and alumni at Yale and in society
Advocate for and support Asian American studies at Yale
Support student programs such as fellowships, internships, scholarships, prizes & volunteer opportunities
Support the Yale Asian American Cultural Center and its programs and initiatives
Support Asian American and other underserved communities through funded internships & other programs
Help further Yale’s mission and place in the world
Convene gatherings and conferences addressing issues of interest and concern to Alumni of Asian descent
