The Yale US-China Distinguished Colloquium was first held by students at Yale in 2011, and we have successfully hosted it annually for the past decade. It is now one of the most important US-China-related events for the Yale community and one of the most influential China summits organized by college students in North America.

For the 2023 event, we have invited below keynote speakers: Prof. Peter Salovey (Yale A.B., A.M., ’86 Ph.D., President of Yale University), Mr. Jim Rogers (Yale College ’64, Co-founder of the Quantum Fund and Soros Fund Management), Mr. Winston Lord (Yale College ’59, President of the Council on Foreign Relations (1977–1985), Ambassador to China (1985–1989), and Assistant Secretary of State (1993–1997), Mr. Robert D. Hormats (Vice Chairman of Kissinger Associates, Inc, Former Vice Chairman of Goldman Sachs), Mr. Ping Huang (Consul General of the People's Republic of China in New York), Dr. Kenneth Chien (Co-founder of Moderna Therapeutics),  and Mr. Alan Patricof (Co-Founder and Chairman Emeritus at Greycroft, Co-founder of Apax Partners). We also have 4 panels around Global Investment, Healthcare, Innovation, and International Relations.

As the President of Yale University, Prof. Peter Salovey mentioned in 2019, Yale has “long and close ties with China and wants to further strengthen the relationship.” As Yale students, we feel the responsibility to promote this precious bond between Yale and China, as well as to facilitate bilateral communications and cooperation. Furthermore, as the world is currently full of challenges and opportunities during such times of societal uncertainty and unrest, we deeply realize the increasing importance of bilateral collaboration and mutual understanding between the US and China. Therefore, we are honored to have Schwarzman College at Tsinghua University co-host the 2023 colloquium with us. By bringing together global perspectives, we look forward to cultivating inspiring discussions on international business and cooperation.

The theme for our 2023 colloquium is “Chance, Challenge, Chime”. Looking back on the past year, we saw the relationships between nations move forward amidst bumps. Global challenges in the world economy, geopolitical conflicts, and climate changes emerged, calling for re-establishing mutual trust and international cooperation. Looking ahead to 2023, we see chances for collaboration among the US, Europe, China, and beyond. What can we do? How should our actions and commitments chime in with the world situation? We look forward to hearing the invaluable thoughts from the speakers.

As alumni play important roles in maintaining the relationship between Yale and the broader society, we are sincerely inviting you to join the event and your support will certainly bring about significant inspiration to all community members from Yale.
